I import my 24P (advanced) 4:3 footage (with bars) from the DVX100 via firewire into FCP with the import selection of DV NTSC 23.98
After editing in the 23.98 timeline, I would like to export the footage so it fills 16:9 widescreen televisions in highest quality 24p (or even uprez to 1080).
From what I understand the Kona 2 is the best way to export and even to uprez SD video to HD.
How can I crop out the bars in the 4:3 footage and uprez it to 1080i with the Kona?
OR even just to crop it to 16:9 and export to DVD in its standard SD quality would be great.
Right now in FCP to export I do the following:
File > Export > Quicktime Movie > Current Settings (It exports very fast) and then I take that Quicktime file into Toast and burn the DVD. I watched the DVD on a 47" widescreen and it looked terrible and didn't fill the screen from top to bottom or side to side.
I'm assuming I should do something more like File > Export > Quicktime Conversion > and then select one of the Kona 2 settings instead?
