Am I doing something wrong?

After a full day of trying to figure this out myself, I feel I need to reach out and ask for some help.

I just picked up an 09' GH1 sn WE9....

Tried several times to install multiple settings but nothing has worked... My clips are still reading as 12-17mbs.. I'm so lost, I tried trolling the forums and net to death but became overwhelmed by all the different incarnations/settings..

Can someone offer any help?

Much aloha in advance..

PS: I couldn't seem to find the in-camera info on what firmware I have, etc..

PSS: just to add, the camera seems to go through the patch/hack process but then it just doesn't seem to get applied? L O S T ( doooh )

firstly is isnt constant bitrate its variable so if you are shooting something boring like your room your gonna get low bitrate. try shooting something very detailed outdoors like grass and heaps of trees and see what you get then.

can you elaborate on why the patch does not get applied? does it say update failed or something?

mahalo for the response, it does seem to go through as it just returns to the camera's menu's after the load..

yeah, the first few shots were outside with mango trees and palms n stuffs...

One thing I do not understand is in PTool v3.40d is the two boxes that I've always checked "Version Increment" and "Prevent Version Compare"...

I can't seem to find any info in camera so I feel somewhat in the dark..

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I do know she's not working yet...

The first thing you'll want to do is remove the vagina from your camera. They screw up almost everything they touch.

The hack doesnt show up in the camera menu, you just know what you set it to and assume its working, which is evident in your recordings. Its really hard to get above 20mbits indoors, but outdoors it will eat whatever you give it. Thats not only because of the detail of the scene, but the amount of light, as the camera simply doesnt record detail in underexposed scenes.

so if your camera goes through the update/hack process and returns to the main menu after that it is safe to assume that the hack worked? If the update/hack does not work will you get some sort of error message? I do not have a lens yet to test video mbits.

the only hurdle is getting the camera to recognize and accept firmware upgrade. once the process starts its all down hill from there. don't play with the camera, press buttons or turn it off during otherwise you will end up with a brick.
