Am I crazy or just misinformed???

So I've read some negative stuff about ccicameracity and other 'grey market' retailers. I even called cameracity and asked and they said that the $1600 DVX-100B camera is camera only, no battery and no charger.

So my question is, am I crazy to still be considering this. I mean it's a whole $1400 saved, which can buy a battery and charger and even add the camera to my homeowners insurance, so if it breaks or gets stolen, they replace it with a new one. Plus the extra money would help pay for a laptop to do traveling video editing. Then my decision is switch to macbook pro and FCP, or stick with a Dell and PP2.0/AE7.

I mean, if they send me the camera...how bad can it get???

They won't send it though. Read the reviews on resellerratings.com. They'll hit you up hard for overpriced "accessories", and if you refuse, then you'll find out suddenly that the one you ordered is now "out of stock", but hey, if you want a "package" camera for $3400, well, they just happen to have one now...

Hmmm, that sucks. So getting a 100B for $1600 is a pipe dream? Man, I really can't afford the 3K price tag.

Typically what sort of discount do AVS and Abelcine give off their listed prices??? Anyone know?

OK looks as hot as the sun and smoke is still rising. Just hope th ebuyer checked the serial. Even here in Japan the DVX 100a (japan is cheaper for panasonic) is still selling at a handsome 2300 USD for about 50 to 250 hours on heads with no accessories.

I have had a freind who bought from them and other venders. Once i even wanted to buy a nikon from one of these companies. They misinform everybody. The first thing you should do is check the rep of the store. The second , question why is it so cheap is it import stolen or is it just plain all 24k bs? What happned is they say after you order they email u to call them back. Once you call them back they tell you it is just the camera itself; or my personal fav, the battery that comes with the camera lasts for a hr so get this generic crap which suposidley lastes for 3-4 hrs which is not even as good as the real battery that comes with it. If you are smart ull say, no , it's cool just give me the cam itself. Then ither they call you later telling u its backordered, or they tell you to hold and then they say wow we don't have it in stock. Then u would ask but u have it in the other packages and they say its a diffrent deal.
Personaly i belive those biz open as a front. They don't care about selling anything. I went to the store there in bk ny and they seemed like they didint even care weather i boght or not. Watch out something is definitly not kosher there.

Everone has money issues and tries to get the best deal, but u have to ask yourslef. "would i rather give my money to terrorists or suport AMERICA"

lol.... hahahahahah

the point is, if its too good to be true its a ****ing SCAM!!!!!!!!! Dont do it! We all know what were talking bout here.

don't go in for the "too good to be true" places because they are just that, too good to be true. Best price i found new was on www.newegg.com i got my brand new 100b with magic bullet and my $400 rebate (back when there was a $400 rebate) from them. If they are still to pricey for you next best bet is used on ebay.

If you have been take from this company. Contact the Federal Trade Commission instead of the better business bureau. The Federal Trade Commission had lawenforcement powers and if enough complaints are filed they can start and investigation.

ah yes.. e-bay. now THERE'S a site with a solid reputation for professionalism in its transactions. surely all of your pro cinema equipment should be purchased through one of its many fine retailers.

sorry man, i just have to say that at least in my book ..e-bay is probably not going to be the best choice to go shopping for .. well .. anything.
..and before the pro e-bay swat team rolls in, let me just say that we'll have to just agree to disagree on this subject. im just stating my opinion whilst trying to help a guy out who is trying to not get scammed, and dont think e-bay is the safest bet to avoiding it.
