Always need to render when captured with OnLocation

Dark Side of the Camera
I always get the red line in Premiere CS3 when i use HVX material captured with OnLocation.

HVX Settings: 25P@50i via firewire into OL

On Location set to Avi T2 and records and displayes fine and fluid.
No disk issiues (have a fast raid)

Premiere: DVCProHD preset - looks good (1440 x 1080 - upper field first - 1.333 ratio)
Footage and Timeline have the same spcs and settings.

Thou I get the red bar in the timeline.
When I play it - it plays maybe every 5th frame.
After rendering it´s fine but on my nerves and time consuming.

Did I miss something? Premiere should eat the OL material native right?

Thanx, Frank

I am not sure why you are getting the red line. I can tell you that I do not with shooting 24p NTSC using OnLocation/Premiere.

You might try giving Adobe a call and see if they have an issue with the PAL specs being truly native.

All I can suggest beyond that is to go through the projects settings with a fine tooth comb and doublecheck that they match your shot settings.

My mistake ...... I doublechecked and found that I actually do get the red line on all of my OnLocation captured clips when they are placed in the timeline.

So Frank, it looks as though this is how it is for Premiere when you wrap the MXF files in an AVI wrapper.

I wonder what would happen if we renamed the extnesion to .mxf?

If there is nor way to edit those files nativeley - that would render (pun intended) OnLocation close to useless.
