FS7: Alternative to using the grip

Supposedly the FS7, & FS5, grips are interchangeable.

And my FS7 grip slips when too much leverage is applied. Only seems to happen in one position, but that may due to how I use it, & perhaps is slips in all.

Has anyone figured out a similar rossette mod for the EVF? Mine has become incredibly flimsy from extended use.

Hello!
Will the Fs5 grip work with the Fs7 electronically? Would wonderful to put the Fs5 grip on a short arri Dogbone.
Not an unrelated question .. Is anyone else having trouble with the Fs7 grip "skipping" under stress? that is to say, the rosette jumping from one grove to the next?

Many thanks for your thoughts!!

Pittsburgh? Pittsburgh!

Did you end up trying this? It is so frustrating that Sony came up with this "second generation" grip for the FS5, when it should have been what was shipped with the FS7 to begin with (strap and option to mount a rosette on it). Now we are left with a more expensive camera with an inferior component.

There are a good deal of limitations with the FS7 that I can live with and work around, but the grip situation is not one of them. The way it is designed out of the box is useless for me. I've resorted to using two dumb grips and operating settings from the side of the camera when shooting hand held.

Geez Allen. My grips are 1500 not 2500! And I'm even throwing in a lemo cable worth $200. So I thankee for the plug but if you're going to quote price let's keep it within a major league stones throw ok?

Cinegrips are a programmable, career investment that fires Alexa, Varicam, Canon C series, BMD and Sony! Handmade, walnut with beautifully machined fixtures - all in the USA. And if you don't need a smart version, the identical walnut grip sell for 750. I've got one here, perfect, new I'll sell for $600 if a DVX user wants it this week.

And 1500 with cable is actually low for a brain like we make - advanced camera electronics is expensive for me to develop/produce. But not THAT expensive Allen!

cheers

You do know that if your handgrip slips, you can send it back to Sony and they'll replace it free. That's what I did.

Stopped using the grip after about 2 months of trying it in every configuration possible. Seems like another one of those things that looked amazing about the camera until I got my hands on it.

I really like the grip and wouldnt want to work without it. It is way too short the way Sony designed it, but with the Shape Handle and Shoulder Mount I get enough reach (I'm 6'5")
