FS7: Alternative NATO rail mount for FS7 EVF

Sorts the drooping of the EVF and keeps a rigid horizon. Have tried various configurations, and this one has worked well on the last couple of shoots.

Total cost £56. I didn't deliberately cheap out - but the quality of this Smallrig stuff is easily as good in operation as the Vocas stuff I normally buy.

The perpendicular clamp is set on medium friction, so it holds things steady on the original Sony 15mm cross-member/mic holder, while allowing easy adjustment. There's enough flexibility to allow the EVF to sit comfortably behind the camera for solo interview shoots.

Ben - thinking about doing this now too. (just got burned recently on the "droop" )
A couple quick questions... assuming you took out the 15mm grooved rod that goes from inside "bracket" (on the side of the LCD monitor) to the quick release... but didn't you have to replace that with a different short rod for your set up? Can't tell from pics.
And - after tightening / loosening that small screw inside that bracket (again, on the side of the LCD), I'm a bit worried about stripping it... is the bracket almost vertical in your set up? And any concerns on that tiny screw securing it to the rod?
Thanks in advance - and apologies for my non-mechanical nature...

Mark - yes, you'll need a short piece of 15 mm rod to connect to the monitor clamp - just use a hacksaw. I had no issues with the clamping screw.

Nice work! Now, would you please come up with a re-design of the loupe attachment? :cheesy:

I was hanging out with Sam Morgan Moore this morning and came away very impressed with the Small HD 502. It's looking quite compelling as a solution to the stock EVF and loupe. LUTs that work, playback with LUT, waveform with a LUT. All those things that Sony has groomed us into accepting that we don't deserve.

Ha. Agree. The Fs7 needs an external monitor w/ lut support. Much more client friendly - and user friendly! I have not tried the 502 yet. But I did just rent the VD Pix E5 for a recent job and was quite impressed with it as well.. and am now leaning that direction on my purchase.
