I knew you'd jump on that.... I started out to go 1 mile, and actually I technically did but the last 1/2 mile was walking. I'll hit that mile tonight....I hope :) It was a bit depressing to see just how out of shape I was...I mean I knew I was, but to actually experience it in this way was terrible. But inspiring for my journey too!

But don't worry John...I think you'll be impressed when you see my actual workout starting Monday....it's pretty intense! :thumbsup:

Yeah, a half-mile is just two laps around the old HS football field. I'm with John on this one, Larry. Ya gotsta set your sights a bit higher.

yeah, i've been playing tennis a LOT lately with my roomies. It's really cool to see your game getting better and all. I can actually serve it semi-hard and have it land inbounds!

Hudson, you're right that tennis singles is a good workout. However, singles is like playing monopoly compared to soccer. That is, assuming you hustle and actually run for every ball. I love playing tennis even more than soccer, but tennis is the far wimpier sport as far as the workout goes. That said, I can see why people who don't play soccer think it's boring. It's one of those things I think you have to experience to enjoy.

I tend to play more soccer just because the leagues make it easier. I HATE USTA tennis leagues, with their focus on doubles and playing tiebreakers instead of a third set. That's about the wimpiest thing ever.

If I had the time and knew enough hitting partners to play tennis a few hours every day, that would be my ideal workout. It's also great stress relief; smacking the snot out of a ball with a racquet.

You both need to play a little rugby if you want a workout. I'm way too old for that now but I played in college...I was a prop. You went out and busted your ass in the game then had to start all over to make sure you "won" the party afterward...:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
 
So I started today. I walked (instead of drove) to my classes, which is about a mile both ways. I know, I know, woohoo. Ya gotta start somewhere.

I just got back from a 2.6 mile run/ light jog. I'm feelin' pretty good. I'll definitely be hitting it a bit harder each day.

The key is if you are going to get sugar, try and get it from natural sources. But try and limit the sugar intake. The body just doesnt need it. But damn it, get your vitamin C!

Hahahaha...reminds me of the bicycle rides we used to take from Imperial Highway and the 91 down to Newport Beach. After a ride like that you had to got Mutt Lynch's for beer and pizza...so much for the healthy bike ride...:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
 
well John, i've been going strong on the workouts for all my life. martial arts to me is the original core, plyametrics, gyrotonics, plates,anaerobic, aerobic, yogic exercise. i never get bored i'll do taichichaun(movement meditation),kung-fu san-sui (circular blocks and strikes),then i move around(sparring) with my kickboxers 5 times a week,then jiu-jitsu 3 times a week, i'm 48 and i think i'm in pretty good shape..........i have to be my girlfriend is 29 i gots to keep up with her! or she'll hook up with one of you studs!
