Almost Forgot (New Green Bench Show)

In the midst of preparing for graduation and all of these projects, I forgot to share my recent (well, month old) episode of my sketch comedy show.

I'll be honest though, this show was put together a "little" sloppy due to the overwhelming amount of projects I had after my music video, but it's still good comedy. I'm well aware of the audio problems and lighting and so forth, but hey! Point it out anyways! Another point I'll be honest about is that despite the massive amount of great feedback I got from my peers (because this humor relates to them); I don't know if this will humor you guys, but hey! You never know!

The show is called "Controversy" because it covers a lot of controversial topics both on and below the surface (such as race relations in America, rap and religion, was Jesus black or white, etc...). So yeah, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Oh, and this was definitely a learning experience running the show. I'm the writer, director, producer, editor, camera man, audio guy, lighting guy, and every other role you can think of; basically a one man crew. But me and my friends pulled it off and we had a great time doing it!

Budget: $12 (Jesus Beard)
Camera: DVX
Lights: Lowel Lighting Kit
Audio: 2 AT lavalier mics.
Editing Program: Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop
Span of Shoot: 3 weeks (off and on shooting due to classes, work, projects, etc).

Enjoy! And I guess you guys can leave feedback. I'd love to hear from this crowd on what they thought was funny and didn't work to them as I am trying to find a line in comedy that'll appeal to all types of people.

Jesus being black or white was never rerally discussed that I noticed. The "honesty" bits were funny and the first skit was alright.

It wasn't discussed openly, it was one of the ideas that was hidden deep. Jesus was played by me, and on the outside it would look like Jesus was white (because I'm so light skinned), but underneath he was actually black (because I am).

It takes people a time or two to get it, but it's not meant to to be a joke you get right away, just something you find after you watch it again (an Easter egg if you will).

I go to a historically black university so they got all this right away, which is why I said my peers gave it great reviews. Glad you enjoyed the honesty bits!

*Edit*

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was it about the first skit that didn't make you like it as much as the others? Was it the delivery? The technical aspects (I know it was a little over exposed and the audio was bad due to heavy wind)? Was it the concept of it?

I'll be honest, as a black person trying to break in to the comedy business for television, I want to be able to write humor that all races and cultures will like, so be honest with me!

I take from the lack of responses that this wasn't exactly a big success with you guys. ;)

It's okay, I'm going to bump this thread in a last ditch hope that somebody else will give me some feedback. Even if you only watched the first 2 minutes and then clicked out, I'd just like to know the general reason of why, as well as other feedback, so I can access how I can improve on my next show!

I take criticism very well!
