Almost divorced my Af100 but we're good now.

So last night we were out on a date at an Ice rink for a music video shoot and she starts making this funny Pink and Blue artifacting thing on anything that moves.
It gets steadily worse as time goes by and I start calling her all sorts of names (sorry baby).

At first I think it's my non Dp-ishness that is putting her off but then I begin to suspect that my date might be getting a bit cold so I turn her off and we go home.
It's a long ride home because we aint talking to each other (Ok, so I was sulking).

So this morning I grab her footage and get ready for a possible break up because of the funny pink noise and...
** surprise** NOTHING.
No noise, no artifacting, no pinkishness.

Footage looks great.

Anyway, the noise was in the viewfinder, on the panny screen and on my reference monitor via HDMI but this morning everything is perfect.

Anyone know what it was?
Too cold?
Am I an incompetent husband?
Any ideas?
Intervention would be appreciated, I love her very much and would hate to have to trade her in for Alexa or some Red Head. (Two prostitutes I hire from time to time).

Edit: Wait, apologies, I have not hired Alexa yet. I have hired her sister but that chick doesn't perform too well in the dark so she won't be seeing my business again!

Can't help you tech-wise but love your post.... the Alexa lady performs incredible acts though. You will love it.... ;-)

A very entertaining read... hope your affair will be reenergized with the forum's input soon.

you'll be fine as long..... as long as she does not catch you cheating with another camera...

Was this on the LCD or the EVF? The EVF is plagued by the "Rainbow Effect." It's only problematic for some people and was a big deal in the days of single DLP rear projection TVs. Still apparent in DLP projectors. It's where when you move your eyes around you see a separation in the color spectrum. With lots of motion your eye follows it which will cause it to occur for you. Some people don't, or can't notice it. I can, personally I find the EVF on the AF-100 completely useless in color. Try setting it for black and white, see if it works better for you.

lol. I'd started to worry my eyes might be going funny!

i've had some weird stuff happen with the lcd. kind of like a burn in of the image. it was a dark shot with some tiny lights in the background. it was a locked off shot for about 2 hours and after the shoot was over i went and cut on the af100 and noticed the dots from the lights were kinda burned in as i panned the camera. turned it off and back on and it was gone...

I had a similar burn in issue on the lcd. Reviewed the footage later and it wasn't there... Something funny going on in that camera some days.

When I tested black and white it didn't help with the rainbow, but I didn't think it would as I had a DLP projector for awhile. The problem is when you have really high contrast and your eye shifts it's focal point, you can see the rainbow. I used to see this ALL the time when watching X-files and they were walking around some shady warehouse with flashlights. If my eyes shifted, the area around the bright flashlight would have rainbows in it. For most normally lit scenes, it wasn't a problem.

I just got used to it on the AF100, but then again, I don't use the EVF all that much.

Well, the white ice background is an epic contrast to anything in the foreground. Maybe this rainbow effect thingie appeared there?
It was weird though, any movement produced it - singer was even getting funny pink blotches on his lips when he sang...

Erm... will i get beaten with a flame thrower if I confess my ignorance of aforementioned 'focus-in-red'?

Definitely: yes.

Because "focus in red" is, as the incredible wfm and the wonderful ND wheel, why I did fall for the Akiko (as I call my AG-AF now).

Once you focussed more (in red!) you and your AG-AF will go a much longer way...... because as often: you will stay with the one you can have a working relationship with.

We are all ready here to start stoning you and burning your carcass..... :-)

Its a focus assist tool, to switch on press the USER 1 button "peaking" there is also EVF detail ...imagine peaking on crack cocaine

Yes, but my point in bringing it up was that you'd start seeing red dots and red flecks on everything that was in focus, so maybe (maybe?) that's the effect you were seeing?
