All Adobe CC applications now available for download…as of 11:50PM EST

Well, I'm also the consumer and this is exactly how I would like to consume their product. I don't walk away for a year, I use Adobe products every single day and I need them to be completely up to date.

That's great for you. I'm glad they're serving you how you like to be served. Personally, I'd like them to hold the pickles and hold the lettuce, but they seem intent on shoving the pickles and lettuce down my throat anyway. And that sir does upset us.

A subscription model co-existing with a traditional purchase model would be great. No one wants Adobe to kill off options.... but that's precisely what they did. By slapping "cloud" on the name in place of subscription they've forced people into giving them a constant revenue stream instead of buying a new standalone product on it's own merit.

By the way, from a consumer perspective this is also bad. Adobe no longer has the same motivation to make sure it's next CS7 update is packed full of great features that make you say "I've got to update!" Nope. Now you're paying for the update no matter how little they add. And the skeptical side of me said that Adobe sat there and realized "not enough people are paying for our .5 updates... AND we don't know if we can keep innovating or adding new features to the product to make "must upgrade" software. How can we charge people consistently, guaranteed, without making "must have" software updates?"

And boom, creative subscrip... I mean, "creative cloud" was born.

Okay, I thought we had this hole bitchfest in an earlier thread about the whole Adobe CC, but whatever.

Back on track, I loaded up Adobe Speedgrade and it automaticlly recognized and enabled my Tangent Element panels.

Pretty cool.

With Adobe going the CC option, it has made it very eazy to pirate their software, you will find that the hackers will focus even more on Adobe and there will be more and more pirate user base. Hacker have generally a hater companies like Mircosoft and Adobe. I have to agree with f64manray with his post.

Come on guys, really? It's good that Adobe is getting pirated? Please... I don't like the subscription either but let these guys get to work and have their thread about working with it.

hscully , I explain why , I "was" a reseller of Adobe products , Over the last few years I build ed a customer base that bought Adobe products from me , I spend hours promoting Adobe products, Adobe comes along and effective steals my customer base via CC. I am not the only company that has lose out but many others, I for one have no simpthy if anybody pirates Adobes products.

That's like a company who sells games gets mad at Steam and wants every game pirated. Grow up.

While I would have left off the "Grow up" comment for fear of starting a flame war, I generally have to agree. A company whom you distribute products for wanting to distribute their products directly isn't "stealing" your customers... they're only your customers because of the products you were selling in the first place. I think the Steam comparison is a good one, as is Xbox Live, iTunes, Netflix, and Redbox. Even before CC, Adobe was offering their products via direct download. Now they've decided to go all in and cut out the middle man completely. That is the nature of capitalism and the free market. It's business. It sucks if you were the middle man and now don't have revenue, but you started a business being a middle man at a time of increasing direct distribution cutting out the middle man.

Well this is true, yet who among us has not wished bad on an employer in a weak
moment? Yeah I probably should have known better than to get in the TV business
with all the competition and the move towards 'user generated content' but that
doesn't mean I wasn't ticked when my job went away. So I understand the feeling
when ones livelihood is threatened. Telling someone to 'grow up' doesn't keep a
roof over the families head or buy food for the kids. I'd be mad too....I know,
because I was there.

So take your editing appetite to Mc Edits, Avid Burger or Eatius...

And BTW, what was Adobe's response to you when you called and wrote them? You did contact them, didn't you???

scully- always classy, even in disagreement.
This is how it should be done, gentlemen... not talks of piracy.
Nobody here wants a former client to steal their work just because they're unhappy with your business plan, now do they???

Yeah, me too. But I can't seem to get a particular song out of my head.
It keeps playing over and over. And over... And...

The TV station I worked for well over a decade eliminated my position and laid me off at the beginning of the year... trust me, I've been there too. Heck, I'm still there. But I haven't ever wished ill on them as a company... it's business, and the nature of the industry. I entirely sympathize with maybe being a little bitter (a few of my coworkers who got laid off were), and I understand why. Ultimately, though, being angry and bitter about it and wishing ill upon them doesn't do anything but waste energy and hurt yourself in the long run.

Besides, this is a little different... he never worked for Adobe. He was a reseller of their products, and from the sounds of it became one at a time when more and more software companies were moving towards digital distribution. Adobe decided as a company to go to all digital distribution all the time and cut out the middle man. It doesn't do any good to be angry because they want to sell their products a different way. That's the very nature of running a business... finding better ways (at least in your mind) to serve your costumers' needs (and thus make more money). I understand being upset at the loss of income (I sure would have been), but not wishing ill on them as surely he had to have seen this sort of thing happening eventually.

And I didn't call him childish... I made a point of saying I would have left that comment out.
