aliasing in wide-angle shots?

Well i have my 5d since tuesday and am very happy with it still need to get a computer though to edit. Im very happy with everything ive shot EXCEPT some of my wide angle shots of the city. Aliasing on the trees, the cars, especially on the brake lights. It just looks like broken up disconnected lines. Ive done some research on here and new about this cameras problems. This is what i can afford though for my project. Ive tried dialing down the sharpness in standard mode, no difference. Ive seen many beautiful wide angle shots on here with no aliasing. How do you guys do it? I have no problems on the telephoto end of the camera. I bought this camera knowing i was not going to be shooting any plane propellars , chain link fences or trains lol. Im wondering do i need that caprock filter? or is it a setting? My lens is a 24mm to 70 L2.8

Any help is greatly appreciated!

One trick if EVERYTHING is wide -- always shoot tripod. Most of the time you will only notice the aliasing if the camera is moving - making the line skipping very noticeable.

Another trick (and this takes practice) is that you defocus just a TINY bit, enough to throw off most of the bad aliasing, but not throwing sharpness out of acceptable levels. It's tricky, but I've trained myself to do this quite well with just the standard viewfinder. You learn to quickly scan your viewfinder for aliasing -- you learn to recognize the small tell-tale signs with practice and experience. Good luck!

Thanks tfg. I just re-read barry's article. Read it before but now that i actually own the 5d and witnessed the problem myself. I will take your advice thanks again!!!
