Algorithm?

No, i just moved it in keyframes.. lol Thanks!
Now what you need to do is have After Effects do all the work for you.

Make a body composition, keep that the main focus in this. Then create the arms, legs, and head. Change your anchor point on each comp to line up where it would attach to the body. Now nest all of the comps to the body comp, where they connect.

Now what you do next is a bit challenging but if you can figure it out you'll learn a LOT about how to make animation do the work for you, and have people believe that you did it all yourself.

Make an expression that moves the arms, legs, head in realtion to the body ONLY when you move the body. so if you move only the body comp, the legs and arms and head will AUTOMATICALLY move in realtion to the position of the body. It's not hard to figure out, it takes some thinking, b ut once you figure it out you can add things like a bounce when someone walks, bobbing head, then you can go from a steady walk to a person running, just by changing or adding in a new variable in an expression.

It's the same concept used in Maya with IK handles, but with this you're in a 2D space maniuplating things on 1 axis (or 3 depending on how complicated you want to get) instead of a full 3D render of an object.

Remember: Animation is about getting the program to do all the hard work for you, you don't have to animate every single movement, you just have to figure out how to create expressions to do the movement for you.

Hope that sparks some creative interest :)
