Hey,

What kind of Uke is that you're strumming in your avatar photo?

I just picked-up a concert Mitchell that I'm really digging...

Kala tenor with cutaway and electronics, spruce top and mahogany sides and back. I string it for low G. Love me some Kala.

Do you mean the pickup? I usually go direct through an LR Baggs ParaDI (would love to get my hands on the new Baggs Venue) in live applications. The Shadow pickup that's installed is active, powered by a watch battery, and it sounds great. They call it an active EQ, but the only EQ adjustment is a single, rotary tone control. Still, has a great sound. Acoustically, it's an incredibly balanced tone with a very prominent voice. I also have a Koa concert from Oscar Schmidt, no electronics, that was a bit more expensive... it has a very soft voice that just doesn't project as well. The Kala is my go-to when I play in public (and when I record, for which I mic instead of going direct).

Side note: the LR Baggs ParaDI is an incredible instrument pre-amp (to other readers: no, it's not a viable solution for mics for dialog), and I use it often for recording with my guitars. It's also my first choice on stage. I love that it's phantom powered (though it can run on a single 9v), and it has a lot of great control over the shape of the sound.
