Camera- DVX100b.
After importing recent footage taken this past Saturday into iMovie 6 I was shocked to find that no sound was heard. I had been shooting that day using the built-in mic. Prior to this, anything shot I've been able to hear through the speakers I use just fine. I began troubleshooting:
I switched to headphones. Nothing.
I recorded directly to iMovie. Nothing.
I opened Final cut Exp, imported footage. Outcome same as above.
Most upsetting was going back to footage captured on an earlier date on the same cassette and being to hear its audio track just fine.
As for settings: CH 1/CH 2 L & R.
Camera recorder-volume is set mid-way. The audio control knobs are set fine.
Recording Speed: SP
Audio Rec: 48k
Lastly, when I open the LCD I hear a constant rapid ticking sound, which I only hear when using headphones. This ticking ceases when the LCD is closed. Oddly, this same ticking is the only sound heard when playing back the footage on iMovie.
I believe I haven't overlooked anything in laying this out. I've ruled out "user idiocy" at this point. So, is there anything else I can attempt before deciding to take the camera in for a professional look-see? I've got that very special feeling in my gut which portends TROUBLE.
