Akg c 1000

Apparently its the swiss army knife of all microphones, and makes a fine hypercardioid. Anyone have any experience with this microphone for interior shooting? I'd like to hear some thoughts on it.

My experience with the C1000s is that it is a little more bulk than one would want on the end of a boom pole.

But it's cardioid, and I have never worked with it as a boom mic. I also have not used one with the polar pattern converter, and though it converts the C1000s to a hypercardioid, I have not been able to hear it to see what artifacts that has on the signal.

I've never used one, but it's quite a laughingstock among music recording folks. I bet if you searched on gearslutz.com you'd find some of that...

It's a brittle sounding mic. You'll do much better with a Rode NT3. It's similar in that it can run on battery, but it has a much nicer sound.

I really liked the C1000s when I was recording to a reel-to-reel. I used it less when recording to ADAT. Now that I'm completely digital I only use it when recording specific types of Foley. There are much better options out there.

Not the right choice...sharp, brittle, painful mic. Worked once for me in the studio on HiHats. Look at the Rode mics.

The NT3 is a good sounding mic, but it's even heavier than the C1000. Neither is really appropriate for use on a boom.

The Oktava mk012 is pretty much the low-budget standard. You can also Check out the AT 4053a for around $300. AKG's blue line is a decent modular system, you'd be looking at about $500 for the power supply and a hyper capsule.
