Okay, so given the amount of interest in cameras like the F3, the Scarlet, and just about every other cam out there, I thought I might consider investing in an external recorder. And since most of my work is in FCP, the Mini seems like a natural fit. And I thought I might also see if I could arrange for a group of Users to get in on a group buy/package deal. So, if you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll get you some details. If there's enough interest, I'll go ahead and post all the details here.

Now that we've got a healthy amount of interest, and it's been cleared by my contact, I can tell you a bit more about the buy publicly. The price per unit would be $1,700 based on at least six buyers. The deal would be arranged through my friends (and yours) at Texas Media Systems. Anyone interested should PM me for more details.

Hey Steve, I already have my KPM, but when you talk to them please ask when the new firmware is coming out.
 
Yep. They originally said the end of October, but nothing is on their website yet. And from those comments I think the version with DNxHD will come after that. Prores adds extra steps with S-Log. (And there have been reports that Apple is going to quit supporting ProRes.) The other features are great, but I'd like DNxHD.
 
I've now got two commits and a bunch of other interested folks. C'mon and get your KiPro Mini, everyone! Let's do this! :D
 
I thought it was worth mentioning in this thread, since it's discount related, that Sony is offering a rebate plan when a qualifying recorder, such as the Ki Pro Mini, is purchased at the same time the Sony XDCAM camcorder is purchased. You can read more about this program here:

yeh ... you see for quite some time I was planning to get a sound devices 704 then the pix came out and it seems to be great because it has XLR's in and can handle the audio side as well. But then I went and did something irresponsible like putting a deposit on a scarlet ... oh boy. Still not sure if I can justify spending that amount on a personal cam so all purchases are on hold while I do some serious evaluating ...
 
Still looking for a handful of buyers for the KiPro Mini! If you didn't see it in the first post, the price will be $1700 each, as long as we can line up six buyers.
 
I don't have an F3...yet. So, I just wanna make sure I'm reading this rebate thing correctly.

If I buy an F3, I get $800 rebate.

If I buy an F3 and a KiPro Mini, I get $850 rebate.

I'm pretty sure I'd be crazy for thinking that I'd get $1650 in rebates for buying the camera and a KiPro Mini.
