Looks like March will be when the PX270 rolls out according to the website.
They also price it at $5,000 euros which is pretty much what the HPX 250 cost when it was released
around $6,500.

Wondering if the lens and chips are really newly designed or are they still using the advertising points from
when the 250 was released. Won't know until we see some video. If the website comes up in Spanish use Google translate.

We'll see if Panasonic can earn it. If they put energy into the lens, if they have a great AF & IS system, if they decided to put really smooth and controllable zoom servo motors and if the image is not noise reduction-laden to get lower light performance it may well be worth it.

That list is a tall order, but as you stated, it will take a lot to get people interested in a 1/3" chip 1080p camera at this stage in the game. For me, I would be more prone to buy this camera if they camera out with a APS-C sister camera with matching colorimetry. Give a great one-two punch and I will commit to you Panasonic. I have always liked your cameras and your codec options but the last round just did not do it for me. I went with an XF300 almost three years ago. I, like probably a lot of others do need both a deep DOF video camera and a shallow DOF on a lot of jobs. But at this stage in the game, the cameras need to be home runs for me to make a move. That is the modern requirement for small company, owner operators these days.

I've used my 250 for 2 years next month, bought it to replace a 200A which was bought to replace a 200. There is no one perfect camera and I use my AF100 as much as practical and where it isn't the 250 works well. They work very well together on 2 camera shoots as they match easily, the 100 is sharper believe it or not but that is likely because the glass I use. I'll get the 270 and sell my 250 for a better lens and better low-light and hope for an AF200 with better highlight handling and better focus assist! As a working professional, the price point for these cameras allows for a guilt free upgrade whenever a new model comes out! All that being said I'd love a 4K camera from Panasonic so I could reframe interviews in post! Dare to dream.

When the HPX 250 came out years ago it was priced at $6500 as well. Then it dropped to $6000 and then in the $5,000 area. It's just the nature of things. If you want it when it first comes out you are going to pay more for it. I bought mine at $5,800 and then the next week it dropped again. For my purposes it works well and is worth the money. I will consider the 270 if the lens and chips have really been upgraded. I'm still not sure that they have really done that. I love the idea of the Ultra 50 and 25 codec at 1920 422 10 bit for longer events. That's what I would like to have in the 250 instead of shooting 50Mbs 1440 Intra. But they say they can't add the Ultra codec to the 250. That I would be willing to pay for.

I bet it drops to $5999 by launch. $5499 is more where I'd like to see it as I would need two of them.

And there it goes! Dropped down already to $5750.

I'm probably picking up two as well. Just saved $1500. Not many cameras these days that shoot 1080p60 and have a 3G-SDI output. This is one of only a few cameras that I can think of under $10k that does that (FS700, Z100...) Sweet!

I wonder if it has that new and improved image stabilization like the AG AC8?

And how about flash band compensation? I see it has an advanced version. Anyone shoot a wedding with an HPX 250? How well does that work in a dark reception with all those camera flashes going off?

That stabilization would be awesome...and welcomed on a 22x lens. As for the FBC, yeah, that's huge for me too. We shoot weddings with HMC150s which obviously have no issue being CCD, but I have shot one using the HPX250...and I can't remember off hand. I know that it couldn't have been bad because I really take note of that sort of thing when I see it...especially with my own weddings. Either way, it's great to have SOMETHING to help with flash banding. Toss in the long lens, the 10 bit 4:2:2, the killer LCD and EVF, and the 3G-SDI which we need and I'm pretty excited about this one. Gonna grab two of these I think, and a GH4 with the interface unit (has 3G-SDI as well) for wide coverage and slider stuff and call it a day. Hopefully they'll mix well together.
