Aj-hdx900

I work with a DP who is looking at buying one because a certain client wants that camera, and it will get paid for overtime by them.

But he says the camera is back ordered at the moment, hard to get.

A tapeless version is coming out in 2007. But, this camera fits a perfect sweet spot of being between the Varicam and HVX200. Its got the image quality of Varicam minus the variable frame rates, but has a built in firewire port so that you can digitize the taped footage without renting/buying a VTR deck. I think P2 are way overpriced anyway, and this is perfect for long format, proffesional shoots.

I am hoping the pricing will also be between an HVX and Varicam, lets say $700 a day with lens, HVX200 rents for $450 average with the P2's and some accesories and a Varicam for around $1200-1300 with lens/accesories. Hopefully it will just go for the same price the SDX900 is renting for, which this cam is replacing.

The first day quote I saw was 850 a day, no lens.

Love to own one of these babies. Tape still rules for cheap storage. How many p2 cards would it take to store 33 mins of HD footage?
