Very cool looking footage. That 200-400 lens must have worked very well for you. I can't even image how difficult focus and tracking must have been.

Thanks, Mark. Regarding the difficulty tracking and focusing . . . let's jsut say there is a lot of garbage on the cutting room floor.

Doug - you are a zen master. Having shot my first airshow last summer, I fully understand how difficult it is to fill a frame with a performing airplane while keeping focus. Truly exceptional work. (and a slice of humble pie for me as well) Assume you also had access to the runway for some of those shots? Or were you shooting over a fence on the long end of the lens?

Hi Mark, thanks for the compliments. I just had a general admission ticket to the show so everything was shot from one spot amonst the rest the crowd. If I had moved I'd have lost my front-row position.
This other airshow video (that I like better) was also shot from one spot except for the handheld stuff at the end of the Blue Angels pilots signing autographs.

Wow stuning, I love it, its amazingly sharp and steady on such a long trow, did you crop the frame or is that full 4k on the planes action?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Nothing has been cropped in post, but not all of it originated as 4K. Anything slower than 60 fps was shot as either XAVC-HD or 2K RAW. The F55 can only go faster than 60 fps in 4K if an R7 recorder is used, and I only own an R5.

It's amazing how much better slo-mo footage looks on the F55 to the FS7.
