hi,
got my dvx 100b yesterday... made some test today and forgot to switch to manual zoom when using the ring... everyhing works still fine, but is there now any light damage? just ask you to give freedom to my soul.... excuse my bad and perhaps funny english...
It is an absolute crime that it is only after studying the manual for a week can one find the warning about manually zooming when the servo is on. There ought to be a sticker that they can put on that pretty zoom knob to warn people away.
Anyway, I did that too when I first got my DVX, but it all seemed to be fine. Just don't do it again.
Oh, a tip--keep the servo off when you store your DVX--putting it in and out of a case can rotate the zoom wheel.
I was pretty lucky. Mine doesn't "clunk" when I turn the power off. I have heard so many, though who broke the servo and transit mechanism when they didn't turn the manual zoom off.
It doesn't sound like Nautilus has that problem, though.
