Many people think that the National Association of Broadcasters Convention, or NAB, runs in mid April. Actually it lasts all year. For example, NAB 2015 began on April 11, 2014, right after NAB 2014 ended, when it was plain that your camera was or was not introduced.
NAB begins in a murmur in forums across the world, like at DVXUser, as people toss around expectations and disappointments. The convention gains momentum in January. People say, "Hey, it's 2015, and that reminds me of NAB 2015!"
Then the bottom drops out about 30 days before the start of the official convention. We are in that time period right now. There literally is nothing to talk about. You don't want to talk about what camera you should buy anymore, because a better one might be introduced in a month. You don't want to discuss rumors, because those just wear you out, empty calories with no substance. Ahem. I said you don't want to talk about rumors --- oh, forget it.
And nobody really gets much done in those days. You click reload on DVXUser to see if any news of new gear has leaked in, then kick yourself for succumbing to rumor. Ha ha, April Fool's Day is right before NAB. (Was that planned?)
The week of NAB, no work gets done, literally, at all. Constant browser refreshes on the 20 or so tabs you have open on various "news" sites to learn about the upcoming gear.
And so, 'twas the month before NAB, and all through DVXUser, not a member was posting, not even . . . that one guy who posts a lot.
