Here's my latest short. I shot it last year, but just now made it public on Vimeo. It stars Yuri Sardarov (Ides of March, Argo, upcoming NBC/Dick Wolf show Chicago Fire, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3713971/) as a man whose fear of leaving his home gets in the way when his carbon monoxide detector goes off.

It was shot on the 5D mkII, T2i, and the GH2. I primarily used the Zeiss ZF 28mm, 50mm, and 85mm lenses.

I would love any and all feedback. Let me know if you have any questions. And if you like what you see, please donate to our kickstarter for our new film Apex: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/119235061/apex-0

Very nice short. A bit over-stylized for my personal taste but still an excellent piece. You are very lucky to be friends with such a talented actor.

Thanks for the feedback! Yea, this is definitely one of my more stylized shorts. I don't really like saying stylized though, I usually refer to it as conceptual directing, but I realize that you can direct conceptually without being this stylized.

I completely agree with you on Yuri. I tweeted this a few months ago:

I watch so many short films online. Visuals are great. Technique is great. Acting is horrible. Thank god I have @yursar.

I liked it, although I thought it could have been cut down to around 4 minutes to speed it up and make it more intense. I thought the diffusion was a bit to heavy on the grade, also thought the shots could have matched better, with a more consistant look and feel.

Am I right if I say that the sound designer also composed the music ?

I find it a bit "to much music pushing"..... at the end... I miss some other sounds. Street, birds, Foley,....

For the rest the story is nice, framing also.

Interesting, where would you have cut from? I'm always looking to make my films as tight as possible.

Yea, that's a good call about the foley. What do you mean by to much music pushing?

Thank you guys for the feedback.

Well, the fact that if you create something yourself, you're less "wanting" to "delete" it...

"kill your darlings".... is a very important thing to rememeber for everyone.
