This has probably been asked before, but I am a new member here:
Why the heck Panasonic won't tell us the effective pixel count? What do they have to hide? Panasonic engineers in this forum - why don't you give us this information?

I think you're "probably" right in guessing that it has been asked before. We're only going to get an answer on this if and when Panasonic decides to release that information. Until then, it's useless to speculate. The footage and even resolution charts will tell us if the camera is good enough for each of us on an individual basis. As has been said many, many times, the CCD pixel count is just one of several links in a chain that make up the overall picture. What you do with the camera is what's ultimately important. I'll be nice and just suggest that bringing this topic up over and over isn't going to win you a lot of friends here... there's nothing we can do about it, so just accept the camera for what it is and be happy that you've got high definition, a tapeless workflow, variable framerates, and fantastic recording formats in a sub-$6,000 camera.
