AGAF101 / GH2 - PREMIERE PRO CS4 workflow issue?!?

hello thar!

so - i have been shooting with our new rig - one af101 and one GH2. we have a mixture of 720p and 1080i NTSC footage. everything looks great in camera and during editing on premiere pro CS4.

BUT i am having a real headscratcher trying to output my edited chapters into a standard DVD format.

my premiere pro timelines are 720p / avchd presets (just shrinking the 1080i elements to match framesize). if i output the chapters as BluRay MPEG2 they look great.

but all my attempts at getting a standard DVD from them have ended in horrible looking footage or no picture/just audio?!?

i have tried -
* ADOBE DYNAMIC LINK to encore and then outputing a DVD ISO from encore
* exporting the chapters as MPEG2 from Premiere Pro
* exporting the chapters as UNCOMPRESSED AVI's
* exporting the chapters as DV (NTSC Widescreen presets)

any ideas folks? it's making my brain hurt.

Mpeg2 is the right thing to use for a standard DVD. What's your bitrate
set to? On compressor, the reasonable settings are 2pass VBR a max
mbit rate > 7Mbps < 8Mbps.

For audio, are you using AC3 or PCM? At least out of Compressor, I get
two assets for the DVD .. one m2v file and one AC3 or AIF file.

Don't know if Premiere is that way too or not.

i have just tried -
making a standard dv timeline in premiere pro
dropping the 720p timeline inside it and rescaling the image to fit
adode dynamic link to encore
output as DVD

AND THAT WORKS?!?!

weirdness.
