I have an HMC40 which I use for documentary work outdoors and a Rode NTG-2 shotgun microphone with an XLR-adapter cable mounted on the camera (which usually, but not always, sits on a tripod.) In other words, only one microphone is used and I do not foresee any change in that.
Since I work alone, it would be hard for me to handle both the camera and a field audio mixer such as the Sign Video ENG-44 but it would have been nice to be able to adjust the audio recording levels not on the camera LCD (which will likely shake the camera) but away from it. Although the ENG-44 has received very good reviews, it is a bit overkill because it allows for four audio sources whereas I will only need one.
Questions:
Is there any value in getting the Panasonic AG-MYA30G XLR-adapter given my use as described above?
Other suggestions for a simpler, yet high-quality field audio mixer, also given the above?
Thanks.
