AG-HVX200 Camera Demo (LA Indie Film Group)

Larry Rutledge

Fest Master
I am on the mailing list for the LA Indie Flm Group (http://www.laindiefilmgroup.com/) and just got the latest mail message from them indicating they are going to demo the AG-HVX200.

The meeting is Saturday, June 25th from 8pm - 11pm. There is a $5 entry fee unless you are already a memeber of the group. The meeting is at Raleigh Studio's Chaplin Theatre, 5300 Melrose Ave.

Larry are you sure it won't be the wooden markup that they showed at NAB? If this is a working model, then we should definitely see the HVX200 by October.

It was Antoine that said the demo would be with a working camera. Larry only mentioned the word "demo".

Actually, I think we just found the stolen mockup! :)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this meeting, so hopefully someone else will go and then provide details of what was shown. I don't have any information about the demo beyond what I have posted, I just gave the info provided in the announcement e-mail. You could contact the LA Indie Film Group for more information.

Wait, the HVX is ready for showing by the end of this month? What size are the chips for cryin' out loud?!?

read the post again , no one said there would be a working model. i spoke to jan this weekend at cinegear and she said we will see a working model sometime in september

How foolish of us to assume that a camera demo would involve demonstrating with a camera. ;)

I'm gonna fire off an email to them to try to get some kind of confirmation.

Why would we see another *dummy* demo when we just had one at NAB? Seems to make sense that we would have a *beta* model that could shoot some real footage!! That would put our street date to around October / November for sure!! :)

Yeah, but do you really think that some internet forum would be in charge of putting toghether this "debut", and if so, would you really think it would be any other site than this? ;)

Now I really don't have to type wink every time I want to do this: ;) So we'll have to live with it.... [/random rant]

Guys, the timeline is not going to magically change. When you see something like this and it doesn't seem to make sense, it's because obviously there's some misunderstanding somewhere.

I don't know about this event, but I would strongly suspect that it will be a similar event as that which they held at Abel Cine in NY a month or two ago. It will likely be a P2 presentation and a q&a session about the camera, etc. But I would bet a hundred bucks that there won't be a working model, as the working model is still probably two or three months away.

Hi all,

There won't be a demo of the camera, it would be just as Barry says, a walk and talk through of the P2 and the nature of the camera. No images will be reflected on any screen lest it be a picture of the camera, not by the camera.

Best regards,

Jan

As I mentioned yesterday, I sent off an email to them:

Hey there. I was wondering if there will be an actual
working model of the HVX200 at this meeting, or if it
will focus on discussing the technical specifications
and implications, etc?

Thanks

And got a response this morning:

Ryan,

We have been in contact with the head of development
for the AG-HVX200... and as it turns out, the people that
said they could do the demo for us spoke too soon... we
are going to push this demo to the fall. We are trying to
get JVC to bring the GY-HD100U 24P HDV camera by to
demo it for our group. I will announce some time in the
next week or so if they'll be able to.

Daniel

Oh well.

Sorry fellas... didn't mean to cause no trouble. Just got excited when I saw the e-mail and thought I would pass on the good fortune.

Thanks for the clarification Jan.
