Hey All,

I'm new to this site... I've been reading a lot of useful stuff in this site.

Currently I am setting up my own production outfit. And I am a Panasonic fan, my 2 favorite cameras are the HVX 200 and DVX100B. I am currently scouting around and budgeting money for my equipment, depending on the budget. My best Case Scenario would be to buy 3 HVX 200s, So-So scenario buy 2 HVX 200s and 1 DVX100B, and my worst case scenario would be to buy 1 HVX 200 and 2 DVX100Bs.

But the question is, will the quality of both images match?or if they do not match can it be at least in a way unnoticeable to untrained eyes?

If it helps my editing gear is Mac Pro and my software is FCP 5.0.4 but Im planning to upgrade to FCP 6(again depending on the budget).

Any feedback, suggestions would be welcome.

Tnx very much!!

I once shot a wedding with a DVX and a HVX. The HVX blew the DVX away. Even though I was shooting both in SD on tape.
It has everything to do with the quality of the chips. You've heard the term... "Garbage in, garbage out". Well, the opposite is true as well. The HVX is taking a HD image and down converting it to SD. The difference is quite noticeable in resolution as well as color.

Raff99 . . we use the exact scenario as you defined as "worse case scenario" and find that the HVX works in the system quite compatible . . although the set up has to be slightly mod'ed on the HVX200 since it "sees" the picture different and thus getting the light right will be little tougher as is the image color matching. That is, the same set up settings on 100/200 will not necessarily give you the same picture . . it will take some trial and error to get them matched perfectly and once you have it, it's a major winner. We are getting ready to sell off another 100 and get a second 200 so we soon be in your "so so" definition :o)

I use one HVX and one DVX, with the plan to get another HVX at some point.

The images don't match up perfectly with the same settings but they're damn close. One thing, the DVX will be more exposed at the same f-stop so you need to stop it up more or darken in post to make the clips matched.
