AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

i waiting the results

Well, after nearly another 2 hours I am still not able to get the app to display the details from of the camera or control the camera.

The first snag that you get into is connecting to the DVX200. It requires a wifi password and that password is not spelled out anywhere that I can find. Ok, let's get past that. Let's enter our own so that we know what it is. I went into the settings and deleted the existing password and made it "panasonic".

Let try try to connect using that password. After all we put the password in ourself. Still not able to connect. Let's turn on the DHCP server just in case that's the problem. Still no good.

Well maybe it's looking for a username and password. If you go into users by default there are none setup. Let's use "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. Still not able to connect.

Lets go out to the settings in the app and fill in the username and password and let's go the extra step and put in the IP address of the DVX200 192.168.0.1. Now when we try to connect it FINALLY connects to the DVX200 via wifi.
Now let's run the app. Immediate error. Let's quit out of the app and try relaunching the app. This time it connects without an error. I don't see any of the information out of the DVX200 and you cannot start and stop the camera.

Maybe It's the iPad, let's turn off the one we are using and try another one.

Cannot connect to the DVX200 using the exact same settings as the previous iPad. Let's turn this iPad off and turn on the original one that as at least connecting. The original iPad will no longer connect. Let's cycle the power on the camera and try the original iPad again. Still unable to connect.

I give up! Maybe someone else will have better luck than me. I'm running the latest version iOS and also running the latest version ROP app.

Good luck guys. Maybe someone will get this figured out and tell me how to do it. I'm pushing 6 hours into something that I really don't need right now but it would be cool if it worked.

My Asus USB-N53 (B1) does not show a MAC address on the DVX200. Seems that the cam does not recognize the WLAN stick.
Any hints on that?

What HW Version in your stick? Mine reads A1 and it is working. Maybe there are different hardware versions and there is an issue with that.

Under OTHER FUNCTION make sure USB MODE is On and USB MODE SELECT is set for HOST.

That's how mine is set, I can't remember what the defaults were so maybe yours is already set for that but I think I remember changing my USB MODE SELECT for HOST.

Hi guys, I finally had some time today to shoot a few interviews with my DVX200. Here are the details:

1080p/30 straight to SD card
Barry Green Scene 5
All settings manual
ISO 1000
f5.0 1/60th
Manual White Balance
Manual Focus
This footage has not been graded or adjusted in any way

This footage probably would have benefitted by the use of my hair light which I did not use today.

Is there any reason why DVXuser still haven't got a specific DVX200 thread?
Seem very odd that with 267 pages it still doesn't deserve it's own space. Who is in charge of starting specific camera model threads here?
Thanks

Sounds good, I think we would all be thankful,

update on USB setup, I follow all the instructions, had about 8 tries at the setup
it all seems to work. And shows up on the iPad under networks,
but when I try to connect to it, I get a invalid password error,
i have not I dear, tried 6 numbers, 8 numbers, 10 numbers no luck,...
any ony have any idea.
ps - Barry I purchased a oddessy q7+ , I like the 4k switching options. I will update as I work it out.

Thanks for posting. Certainly looking better than when this thread started! I would say though, this footage kind of reminds me of the AF-100 in the way skin looks. Imho, this still an area to work on with settings as to me, the AF-100 always looked over processed or 'heavy on the noise reduction' on skin. It is not over the top on the this footage but I do think/hope there is room improvement.

I agree that there is still some room for improvement but much of that odd skin tone seems to have happened after the upload to You Tube, especually when playing it on an iPad or iPhone. The raw footage on my computer doesn't seem to have that sort of shiny overexposed cast to forehead. Being that a lot of stuff rom the DVX200 will be played on You Tube, it would be nice to be able to avoid that. Maybe Barry can interject wth his thoughts.

One thing that is driving me nuts about the camera is that all of those interviews were shot at ISO 1000 and +/- f5 and 1/60th. Most of them were shot about 5-10 minutes apart so I turned the camera off and back on again. Every time I turn the camera back on it defaults back to ISO 500. A few times I couldn't figure out why the image didn't look right when I turned the camera back on and I had to go into the gain and ramp it back up again. I really think the firmware needs to be changed to correct this. I realized later that in ISO mode the L-M-H is 500-1000-2000 so I guess it's not too big of a deal and I should have just set the gain for M and this would not have been a problem. I'm the only guy using the camera. If I use the dial and set it for ISO at 1000 instead of the swithc, I think it should be there the next time I turn the camera on.

Posting to youtube can be problematical with color shifts and gamma shifts. I've found that rendering out an .mp4 and uploading that is the worst. I have found that if I render out a .wmv and upload that, it generally retains the image the way it's supposed to be. Might want to give that a try. Of course, if you're on a Mac, you'll have to try something else.

As for the ISO and wheel thing, that was discussed earlier in the thread here. The camera will go to whatever ISO is set on the switch position in the menus. If you change it with the wheel, that's temporary; if you change it in the menus, that's permanent (until, of course, you purposefully change it again).

Barry_Green;1986609260 As for the ISO and wheel thing said:
Yes, the light bulb came on after about the 3rd time it happened yesterday and i remembered that I brought that up and you had answered it a while back. I think I can deal with it going forward.

My thoughts about the skin where outside of exposure and more along the lines of looking over processed, low detail or smudgy (if that is a word). Nothing extreme but shades of what I never liked about AF-100 footage. Is there anything to change in the settings for this?

For example, the footage is very detailed but until the gentleman with quite a bit of facial hair appears, the faces look soft. The edges of the hair are needed to bring out the detail. Just an observation that might be tainted by YouTube.

I think it could be a little bit of me getting used to the focusing of the camera and what You Tube does to the video. If you notice that same guy with the facial hair, his shirt to me is tack sharp. Also the second guy, his face appears just a little soft but you can really make out the pattern in his shirt. I was using focus assist prior to rolling and I may have botched the exact focus point.
