after effects titles??

I am putting some animated titles that I created in after effects onto a project in avid 5.1.6. The thing is...I have one little problem that is bugging the hell out of me. When I output the animation from after effects, everything looks great...the curves are nice and smooth...even on my ntsc output monitor. But...as soon as I import them into avid, the nice smooth edges are all of a sudden all jagged. I tried messing around with the import settings but cannot seem to find a method that will make them look as nice as they do before I input into avid. I was going to post some screen grabs but if I ouput a graphic, everything looks fine again. Any thoughts anyone?? Thanks!!
 
There is nothing that needs to be rendered. The animated title is not matted over anything, its a stand alone title that is imported as a clip.
 
ALSO...the avi clip that I output from AE looks fine when I play it just in windows media play, even on the ntsc output. whats goin on?
