after effects rendering problem

When I go to the composition screen and go to add to rendering que I open up the renedering que and nothing is there..... What could I do to find out why this is happening?.... Is there a setting off or something? Please help!

Just checking, but you have your current timeline open and active when you click "Add to RQ" right?

When you click "add to render queue", does it not automatically open your queue?

That's the thing it opens a render que but it doesn't put the project In there , yes I do have it In the timeline but it still doesn't render.

Never seen this before. Is this a trial version?

Try uninstalling/reinstalling (don't forget to save your project files first!)

Have you verified this problem by using the other I conventions for adding something to the render queue?

1. Drag a comp into the RQ
2. Hit command-M from the timeline of the comp you want to render

If you can't do either of these, I've also never heard of this issue (and I've been using AE since before Adobe bought it!)...

the command m worked very well but , now it is taking a long time to render. I've tried turning it off and restarting , is there anyway to make it render faster?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see any mention of what it is that you're trying to render out. Duration? Effects? Source material? Render setting?

Before you answer that try this.

First make sure that frame blending and motion blur is off for the composition then check the estimated render time. If you weren't using frame blending or motion blur move on to the next step.

Next try this simple test. Make a new 10 sec comp using one of the presets. Add a solid nothing else and render it out. If that works go back to the comp you're having issues with. Turn off all the layers except for one and check the estimated render time. Add back in the layers one at a time checking the estimated render time. Eventually you should see a big jump in the render time - that's your problem layer. Then disable the effects on that layer and check the estimated render times again. Repeat the process by adding in the effects one at a time.

Using this method you can determine a problem layer or effect. With layers it can be a problem with the source file. With effects, too much blurring or too many particles can cause long render times.

Anyway, just some food for thought in troubleshooting your problem.

thanks alot I will try some of those tips. I am trying to render effects , my frame blending is off and my motion blurs are all off. I think perhaps I've taken out to much grain and that may be the cause of it. I only have one layer on the footage. do you use pre render at all?

The compostion is also like an hour long is that why it is taking a long time? I'm not sure but I think b/c I'm taking out the grain in the whole project that it makes it go really slow.

I am trying to render effects
ok, but what KIND of effects? the type of effect and length of your clip has a TON to do with render time.

The compostion is also like an hour long
DUDE! thats your problem!!! after effects is not a real-time effects program. everything has to render. sometimes its a matter of a few seconds. but with certian effects it can get pretty lengthy. 25 hrs to remove grain on an hour clip - yeah, 25 hrs seems about right.

youre trying to use after effects like a finishing program. people who do this kind of thing either use way more expensive and complex hardware/software combinations or use after effects in a render farm. or in your case. just hit render, turn off their monitors and go to bed.
