GH4 AFS focus changing with Autofocus Continuous Off

Hey guys,
Help me understand something.. why does the camera continue to attempt to autofocus when you set the rocker switch to AFS/AFF, AF Mode set to One Area and turn the Continuous AF OFF? I'm using the Panasonic Image App to click on an area of the screen to rack focus and the camera does indeed focus. I start recording and sometimes, it changes the focus to the background if an object moves out of view. Shouldn't the camera hold focus if I have Continuous AF OFF?

Because, there is a setting that let's you select AFS or AFF, and you have it set to AFF. What this does is set focus like a one shot focus mode, but if the object moves, it tries to track it. Continuous auto focus is constantly adjusting focus even if the subject under focus doesn't move.

I just checked in my REC menu and it's set to AFS. An easy test is for you to set the wheel to AFS/AFF, make sure that REC menu option is set to AFS and Continuous AF is OFF. Touch your screen to focus on an object in your camera. Move the object and watch the focus change to the background. The focus should not change, according to the manual and how AFS and Continuous AF OFF works.

Is this issue only with Panasonic image app (is that a wifi thing?). Does the issue occur in normal shooting just with a camera alone?

AFS works for me with those settings so it should work (with panasonic lens)

But i'm kind of pissed after finding out the camera was hunting during most of our trip. It was caught late. CAF can be set in two places (??) and AFS/AFF are on the same dial setting (bad ideas imo). So call it user error but there are so many confusing s*%tty consumer options on these cameras to mess you up. And they don't even work. Autofocus on the GH4 is known to be unusable but must be set right for AFS . I'm pressed to worry about stuff like composition/ exposure, and don't need a hundred bells and whistles. BlackMagic might have it right in that case.
