Today my 55mm 1.2 FD lens arrived and I love it! Did one test shot and was impressed.

The camera with that quite heavy glass looks the part now. The lens hood came from HK via ebay. It has a 67mm dia hole. I attached a 67-58 step down ring inside the hood and works perfectly.

The mic is a Rode NTG-2 with Rycote windjammer. The funny looking focus control is a SunwayPhoto FF.

Has any member made any film with that lens and can I view it?

hey

nice look!

I have a 55mm 1.2 FD ... my favorite lens forsure.

I also have a 24mm 2.8 FD but yeah, its ok.. im dieing to replace that with a 20mm pancake. Just love the look of that lummox pancake.

Oh and if I had cash to burn I would Most definitely buy the 85mm 1.2 FD that would be a dream!

I shot this video back in the day with an unhacked GH1 using the FD 55mm f1.2. Granted, I think my lens is not in the best condition. It may have some fungus that makes the already soft f1.2 look a little softer and less contrasty. The blacks are really milky, and I have to really bring them down with color-correction.
Full disclaimer: this video was shot hand-held without a rig on an unhacked GH-1. Hence the jittery, rolling shutter. But I like the look of the lens. It has a very dreamy quality. FYI, the shots that vignette in the corners (in the 2nd half of the video) are shot with a c-mount Switar 25mm from an old Bolex film camera.

Definitely looks nice! But I'm confused- it it a Canon FD 55 1.2 (as you write) or Sigma 50 1.4 (GFX in the video)?

ebay?

I was lucky and a cousin of mine gave me a few camera's + lenses her father owned and she had no use for them. But i was surprised to see that the 55 1.2 sells close to 1k sometimes.

The 28mm not so much, and they are both S.S.C's

The 85mm is also about 900 bucks. beautiful lens i could only imagine.

Good stuff my friend, thanks for sharing. Yes the 55 is a magical lens for video. Really does give off a certain charm. No wonder it is ideal for weddings and the like.

It was rainy here yesterday and had to do my training indoors, so I decided to play a bit with the AF-100 and the 85mm 1.2L. Wound up shooting at iso 3200 and 5.6 - 8 go get greater DOF out of this lens in my available light. One of the things I don't like about it is its 1.5m minimum focus distance, makes it hard to use in tight spaces. I apologize for the poor video but its hard to film yourself.
