AF101 Protection for sensor

Hi guys,

Do you know any protection that I can buy to have in my AF101 instead of a lens?

I've the camera in my bag like it is in the picture. As you can see I've no space to have the camera inside the bag with a lens so I wondering if you know of any protection for the mirror that protects the sensor, to prevent that it gets scratched...

Thanks a lot

The camera should have come with a lens port cap. Did you lose it?

You should NEVER store a camera with an open lens port. Your sensor will need to be cleaned now.

When in a pinch without access to a port cap, I will often use 2" black paper tape as temporary protection.

Or just buy a pancake lens :)

I bought a couple extra body caps on ebay for cheap. I keep misplacing them. Any MFT version will do.

I thought the AF-100 came with a body cap for that purpose. If not, you should be able to buy any M4/3rd body cap to protect the sensor

http://www.amazon.com/RainbowImaging-Micro-System-Camera-body/dp/B003T4M7PA/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

Edit: I've not used the above cap... I just did a search for it. I'm sure there are tons of options out there...

Mine didn't came.. I think that it's better to have a talk with my reseller tomorrow...

Thanks a lot man, kind of obvious now that you put it that way...

That's a great tip thank you... I've been protecting it with a paper a bit bigger than a cap with two pieces of tape.

But are you sure about having to clean my sensor now? I heard Barry Green saying more than once that no impurities could get through the glass that protects the sensor.

It didn't came with that cap, I thought that I came like that for everyone to be honest. Rookie mistake.

I thought of that too Erik but I can't right know :)... The budget doesn't allow it. Meanwhile I bought one cap quite cheap in an online store in my country...

Thanks

When you "clean the sensor" what you are really doing is cleaning the glass (AA/IR filter) that covers the sensor -that's what I (and everyone else who has ever said that in this context) meant. The sensor itself cannot be cleaned - thankfully it would be very hard to get it dirty.

(You mis-attributed a quote there, btw.)

Right nothing, got it.

I changed that, thanks for pointing it out!
