AF101 in Hong Kong

Hello again. I had a shoot in Hong Kong last week and in what little time I had off, I tried to get out and about with my AF101. Here are a few of the shots. As I covered about 9km walking on the day I shot most of the footage, I wanted to travel light so just used my small stills tripod - so everything had to be locked off. I used Editmans 5D settings which I really like for a great clean image with a nmice organic look. For me one of the real joys of using this camera is the fact that you can travel around with it so lightly but capture some lovely images at the same time. As someone who needs to lug around a big old Sony PDW-700 broadcast camera with kit, this feels fantastic!

I hope you agree some of the images are lovely, esp of the little village I wandered into at the end. I used the Cineroid for the first time which did help with exposure and focus.

Thanks for your time, Sparky

One of the better videos out there for this cam. Nice images for a first outing :) You have a lot of variety in there, and the image is very clean and colorful. Good work.

Thanks, I used : Tokina 11-16mm F2.8, Nikon AIS 50mm 1.8, Nikon AIS 85mm F2. The Tokina 11-16mm solved all my initial wide angle concerns.

Really nice stuff- you create a very dreamy feel with the settings, slo mo, images and music.
What did you do in grading?

It doesn't look like the light tripod was a hindrance at all- very smooth rack focuses.
Why such a quick shot of the gate with vines at 2:18? It's a pretty shot.
Do you make a Hitchcock cameo with hat at 2:20? :)

In grading, just a little touch of bleach bypass. I would have liked to have done some tracking of the surfers had I had my main tripod with me and introduced a little motion, but I didn't fancy carrying that lump over that mountain pass - so had to settle with locked off shots. Indeed that is Sparky Hitchcock appearing at 2:20 - good spot!

Great piece! I've shot a half dozen times in Hong Kong, and absolutely love the range and diversity of looks / locations within walking, subway, tram, & ferry. You've done a great job of capturing that - now I'm all fired up for my next trip over...
