Af100a advice requested

I'm considering and reading about an Af100a and have some questions if you guys don't mind.

How good is it in low light, compared to say a Sony nex ea50u or panasonic gh3?

Would it do ok shooting weddings and events?

Looks like it does hdmi and sdi out, so an atomis samuri or ninja 2 could be used.

How about shooting handheld?

How well could it match up as an A cam with a GH3 as B cam and hmc150 as C cam?

Looks like gh3 lenses and af100 lenses interchange.

Does it record 1080 60p with audio?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes it can be used with either a Nina or Samurai, or any other recorder. I always recommend SDI over HDMI for a connection to a recorder.

Yes it can share lenses with a GH3 or GH2.

yes it does 1080/60P with audio.

IMHO...not a great choice for either. This is Production Style Camera and requires a higher degree of hardware and personnel support not often available for run and gun or events.

Beg to differ... even with the slow 14-140, my AF is a better event camera than my old HVX, and by slight extension an HMC150, by simple virtue that it can shoot with relative noiselessness at higher ISOs. The wide-ratio lens is only missing smooth servo zooms (that I personally don't usually do anyway). With a faster lens, results are all the better. Two SD card slots can also be helpful for some ridiculously long events. It's not all that hard to nail focus on a m43 sensor at ~f5.6 or lower; f8 is dead simple; f4 isn't even that difficult, and with a decent EVF or monitor I've run around at f2 without issue. It does take some amount of practice, but I'm not the world's greatest shooter so it's clearly within the capabilities of many.

Effective handholding is possible, and made very easy with the simplest of homemade rigs (search this forum for some ideas). Just be aware that the more stuff you add, the more stuff you have to add to ease handholding. This is a light camera and easy to toss around.

The EA50 appears to rival or exceed the AF in terms of low light performance and definitely handheld ergonomics, but will be slightly more difficult to focus at wider apertures. I've heard unflattering things about its servo zoom... but then I've heard just as many unflattering things about the Panny 14-140.

As to comparisons with the GH3, the GH can yield a better image (more sensitivity and range, better internal codec available); you just have to ask yourself how much you need the extra features offered in the AF platform.
