af100 won't stop recording

Had a problem with my af100 at an event today... couldn't get it to stop recording... was recording a fashion show and went to stop the camera and it wouldn't. Power wouldn't even go off so had to pull the battery out to stop it... Of course the clip seems to be lost - but I'm worried about it happening again. Anyone else experienced this? Up until now haven't had a problem with this camera and have loved every minute of it... Any suggestions?
 
I think it has to do with the prerecord mode. Was the track light on? When in pre-record, the clip counter goes constantly, picking up whatever the cam is pointed at. The Record light won't be on but the cam will seem like it is recording. In pre-record once you hit the record button it adds whatever the last three seconds was to the front of the clip. Next time it keeps "recording" go to the menu and see if pre-record is activated.
