Af100 with Voightlander 25mm f/0.95 lens

Hello all,

I recently purchased the Panasonic AF100 camera and a Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 lens.

When I purchased the camera, it came with a Lumix 14-140mm lens that works fine, however I cannot
seem to get the Voigtlander 25mm lens to work. The screen shows nothing, just black.

I connect the Lumix lens to the af100 and power up, the camera shows an image. I then take off the
Lumix lens and attach the Voigtlander lens, but I get no image..

Any ideas what is wrong?

(yes, the lens cap is off.. haha)

Thank you!

William

Does the Voigtlander 25mm lens still have a crop factor of x2 even though it is a four third lens that doesnt need an adaptor to work with the af100?
What about the Lumix 14-140 which also is a four third lens?

Thanks

I skimmed over that thread, couldn't find information on exactly this:

Sorry, I meant: Using the Af100, with its crop factor of x2.. Will the 25mm look like a 50mm? and the 14-140mm look like a 28-280mm - Even though they do not need adaptors to work with the AF100 because they are four third lenses?

The crop will be 1.19, instead of 2.0? Does that mean the 25mm will look more like a 30 or 35mm?

Thanks

No. Lenses don't have crop factors. Nothing about the lens has any effect on crop. The mount doesn't matter, the focal length doesn't matter. Only the sensor size matters.

Use this...

..... different film gate / sensor size results in a different framing a different field of view. So a 25 mm on a MFT camera will show you more or less a picture you would get with a 50 mm lens with a 35 mm photo (not movie!) film gate / sensor. But a 25 mm lens is always only a 25 mm lens. If you use it on a smaller film gate / sensor some of the picture is cropped.

Does that make the point any clearer?

The Voigtlander 25mm Micro 4/3 mount lens is equal to a 50mm in the 35mm still camera world. So its basically a normal 50mm lens on a Micro Four Thirds camera. Same goes for the Lumix 14-140 (24-280) I know its confusing but you will get used to it.
