AF100 Wireless Focus/Iris Controller?

Sounds like you're looking for native lens control, but I thought I'd mention that an accessory for the Birger Canon adapter (which is supposed to be released after the mount), is expected to give wireless control. Here's hoping it won't be vaporware.

I am signed up to the Birger alias so I can get early in line for the birger adapter, as I am using EOS lenses and want to continue to use them (I like them a lot). I've been waiting to see what their wireless control was going to be. I've read I believe there will be two models to choose from, so I was trying to see if a wireless controller existed for the panasonic protocol that way if I used an m4/3 lens at some point, I wouldn't be stuck with no wireless focus control.

Wireless exists but it is prohibitively expensive for a nice to have part of your setup. Steadicam Operators use them. The less expensive setups are about 5 grand per channel when you factor in everything necessary. If you got 3 channels (focus, iris & zoom) you are into it about 15 grand or 10 grand for used gear. Used is hard to come by as well. If you want to go cadillac it's about 30 grand. Actually it's a bit more and you will need to get set up with Anton Bauer or a V-lock battery system as well so throw another 2 to 3 grand in the pot for batts charger and cables.

This is why I'm so excited about the Birger Mount! It's also why I went with Canon L primes over Zeiss. Look into the Birger mount. The version for the RED was wireless and looked amazing. They say they will develop two Birger Mounts. One for basic on camera control and one that allows for remote control. It should be sweet! But until then working with Canon EF glass sucks! LOL Having to remove the lens every time I want to adjust the iris is a huge pain. Cm on Birger. Bring it. LOL :)

Yeah, being at $5k to $15k is definitely out of the question. The only lens that I am considering that would be of concern would be the 7mm zoom that is m4/3, because everything else I want to use is EOS. The 25/0.96 is a manual lens anyways so it couldn't used with the automatic control so it's not a concern.

I guess it will be wait and see. If I cannot find something, or that Birger mount (the more expensive one) is too much, I'll consider designing one. There is a lot of radio controller systems that are pretty inexpensive to start the design with (I am an electrical engineer, so I do have a clue of what this sort of system takes, hehe).
