AF100 waveform monitor...tiny wave specs above 100 IRE ok or not?

On my AF100 waveform monitor, I understand that the wave form must not exceed 110 IRE and better yet, should not exceed 100 IRE.

But as I struggle to light a scene properly, I notice that while most of my wave hovers in the desired 70-80 IRE area, I notice tiny isolated wave specs/dots over 100.

Am I therefore overexposed? Or is it ok to have some tiny wave specs/dots above the 100 IRE limit?

It depends on what's causing those specks. If it's light reflecting off of glasses, or something like that, then it should be perfectly fine. Read the waveform left to right, and look at your image, and you should be able to figure out what it is that's crossing over the 100 IRE line and decide whether it's "okay" to let those elements "blow out" or not.

You can easily see if there's hard clipping on the WFM since it's brighter and just cuts off. If the WFM overall looks clipped it' not good but a thin spike or two is mostly okay if the rest is safe.

As Barry said it depends. Some things are fine above 100. A blown out window looks good in some situations and it is going to really spike. Don't spend to much time worrying about keeping everything pixel under 100 IRE. You will end up with a flat, muddy image.

Questiom:

Where is it written the value of !00 or 110 RE? First time i use this function and i'm trying to understand how it works properly.
Thx a lot and sorry for the question
