I'm looking to purchase from someone who originally bought from B&H a couple months ago, and has already registered the camera in their name. Will the complete warranty be transferable to me (new owner)?
Hi Oliver, I think it is the other way around. Contact the folks in Panasonic service, just not this week as they are mostly at NAB. pbtscservice@us.panasonic.com
So, if I read this correct, the answers to all my warranty questions are NO rogar-Shock(DBG):
To follow up on this, here is the email I sent:
"Hello, I'm looking to purchase an AF-100 from someone who originally bought
from B&H in February, and has already registered the camera in their
own name. What will effectively happen to the 1 year standard factory
warranty, and the "plus 2?"
1. Standard 1- Year Limited Warranty is void at the time camera is resold.
Please refer to the Limited Warranty card included with each brand new product:
"This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and is non transferable."
2. Upon registration of qualified P2HD equipment to PASS original owner receives FREE extended 4-Year Limited Warranty beyond the regular 1- Year Limited Warranty.
This warranty starts for original owner on the day the regular 1- Year Limited Warranty expires.
Will you support even the second hand equipment by registration?
The second hand equipment can be registered but extended warranty repair program isn't applied.
When the equipment is re-sold to someone else, is the extended warranty repair program transferred, too?
No. The right for the program isn't transferred. Please be informed that you need to delete the equipment registration when re-sold. Otherwise, next customer will not be able to register it."
That's why I always buy the Sagemax 3 year warranty that B&H sells. It cost $550 for my AF but I could smash the camera in to little bits(not intentionally) and it's covered. It's also transferable to a second owner. In lieu of camera insurance it's nice piece of mind.
Here is how it really works. The original warranty is not transferable. The extended is but the original owner must give you the password to his PASS account and you can change the name there. If you are transferring after the first year you may want to or Panasonic may wish to have the product inspected to verify working condition.
Ok, need a clarification. I purchase a previously owned AF100 now. The original warranty is not transferable but when do I change the name for the extended warranty? Now? At the end of the first year? After the first year? Does that mean that for my camera the warranty is only two years.
You purchase a previously owned camera, the first year warranty is not transferable. The next two years are. Go into the preregistered PASS account upon purchase and change the names. This will put you on the list for emails that talk about updates and such.
Old thread but I have not register my Af100 which I bought in march, and now looking to sell it. Can the second owner register it and have the warranty?
