Has anyone tried using this device with manual zooms to emulate a servo zoom type experience? I am searching for a way to re-create the smoothness of the servo zoom in the new world of servo-less shooting. I've tried everything from Panasonic's zoom lever band attachment to neoprene jar openers, all with mediocre results. This serious piece of equipment from Chrosziel looks like it would really perform nicely, but at $1,500, I figured I'd ask around first before buying. Anyone out there have any experience using one of these with your manual zooms? Your feedback and/or alternate suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I guess its each to their own but since buying the manfrotto PFI 521 remote focus I now use my follow focus system to drive the zoom...works great...

Thanks, Vultch. I just ordered the Manfrotto PFI 521 today. I was hoping to use that in one hand, while working the zoom lever with the other in order to do tracking shots. I'm happy to hear that you like the Manfrotto controller. Have you used that controller with the 14-140mm Panasonic lens by any chance? Also, what follow focus are you using? IndiSystems makes an IndiZoom device specifically for gracefully operating the zoom ring. I'm curious how that actually works in reality, as well.

I love the manfrotto and yes I use it with the Lumix 14-140 lens. It's a very nice setup works great offering smooth focus control my only criticism of the lens is the steppy iris control but I work around that.
My follow focus rig, I bought the indian proaim kit, it's great value for the price matte box rods etc built quality is very acceptable considering the price.

Is it easy to adapt to zoom? Whats the workaround for the iris issue?
Thanks

well i just grit my teeth and live with it, if i need to zoom, go for a fixed aperture and correct exposure in post, not perfect but.....
