AF100 vs T2i Rig

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a second camera and I'm looking at the AF100 vs the T2i. If I were to get the T2i I would be getting a monitor, Zacuto Rig, Rode Mic and a Zeiss prime. But if I got the AF100 I would only be getting a Zeiss prime lens.

Any opinions on which would be the better option?

I think whichever camera you get, you'll want more than one prime lens. So if you can only afford several lenses if you go the T2i route, I'd do that, and skip the Zacuto rig and monitor.

I own both and there is NO QUESTION the AF100 is a far superior camera. But instead of a zeiss prime, I would pickup a zuiko 35-100 f2 zoom.

The AF100 would be a better investment IMO, if you can afford it and it eliminates the need for a bunch of the add on gear. But it depends like Barry says...what is your other camera? Maybe a T2i is all you need.

My other cam is a Sony PDW700 (I work in Broadcasting). But I'm looking for a camera to do personal work i.e. shorts, short documentaries, and profiles

That kind of makes it a "first" camera. The other one is irrelevant unless you plan to mix the footage up.

I really think the AF100 would be a better choice...it has so much on board that a t2i does not have. If I were in your shoes I would INVEST in the AF - buy some lenses and go shoot. With the DLSR it's like - okay what LCDVF to buy, what audio device do I get, what rig will work with those other items, will it overheat, and so on and so forth. For others they make sense( me for instance)...but if you can get something like the Panny, I say grab one up.

We did shoot a feature movie with the T2i. The pictures are very nice, but we had a lot of handycaps with the audio and the external monitor.
So after we evaluate the whole shoot we came to only one conclusion: Lets buy an AF100 for movies and use the T2i for commercials and as a B cam for multi cam shoots.
