af100 vs 7d vs hpx170 vs ex3

This is the first time I write a thread in this forum, I hope this test is helpful :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I wanted to see how the af100 behaved in wide shots compared to different cameras, so I made a very basic test from my window. I am very happy with the results even if the af100 is not as sharp as the ex3 its better than the hpx170 or the 7d.

Yes, your findings mirror my own. The AF100 represents a substantially sharper image, especially in wide shots, over the DSLRs and even the HPX170/HMC150, but it's not as crystal-sharp as the EX3.
 
The EX3 is a very nice camera but unfortunately that sharpness soon decreases if you stop down on the lens past F4.8 and beyond. The other issue with the EX3 is the IR problem. More than once someone remarked that their jacket or jumper had changed colour. At its sharpest with stock lens the EX1/3 cameras are simply amazing. Nice DR too picking out detail in highlights that my 5D2 couldn't retrieve.

I always used my EX1 with a Letus 35 so the results I'm getting from the AF100 are about the same sharpness-wise. Infact, the AF100 seems to be sharper but I need to do some pixel peeping before committing to that statement. It also could be because my Lumix lenses are sharper than my Nikons.
 
Here are a couple quick shoots I did with both the AF100 and HPX170... Obviously the image from the AF100 is sharper and nicer, but they can cut reasonably well. These were quick shoots using the AF100 with the HPX170 as a B cam, which were shot and edited in a day as it came out of the camera, and were not color corrected. The password for both is "Rush".

Hey I dont know if this is the place to ask this but how does the sharpness of the AF100 compare with the GH2 and EX3?
I've seen different pieces of footage from the cameras but never in the same scene or with similar subjects.

Thanks for the clip but it doesn't have the GH2 in there for comparison. We all know the GH2 resolves more than the Canon line of DSLRs and it also resolves more than the AF100 so I wanted to see how it compares to the EX3. Would you say its compareable in sharpness or just below it maybe?

The AF100 is not as sharp as the EX3. The video in the first post here demonstrates the difference. Panasonic rates the AF100 at 800 TVL, and the EX3 is rated at about 1000 TVL. The AF100 is sharper than the 7D or HPX170, and not as sharp as the EX3.
