In my uncertainty in either waiting for the Samurai to come out or to just invest in what i know will be a great product, the Pix 220, I'm left wondering how the workflow/ setup will run considering that both my monitor and the pix will require HDMI in.

I'm running an HDMI marshall monitor that does not have any hdmi output and the PIX 220 is only hdmi. Would it be as simple as getting an HDMI splitter?

would it be something like this?

Are there any negative effects of doing things this way besides the extra mass?

Thanks.

I just visited the set of a short film where they were using an FS100, and it only has HDMI. They were piping the HDMI output into a splitter, and then running that to a Zacuto EVF and also to a TV Logic monitor, and then sending the TV Logic's output to a client monitor.

The complaint of the cameraman was that there was substantial lag. He felt that with the viewfinder, everything was running about 1/4 second behind the action. I've heard others complain about the HDMI on the AF100 that it has a little bit of lag too. I don't know if the lag the operator was complaining about was aggravated by the splitter or not. On Google when I typed in HDMI Splitter, it auto-suggested "HDMI Splitter Lag" and gave over 100k+ hits on that, so ... if you decide to go that way, yeah, shop around and see if you can minimize it.

Hmm, that's going to be problematic... I wonder if there is hdmi to HD SDI

oh, there definitely is, but man it's expensive... hrmmm Don't see an easy solution. Might be stuck waiting for the samurai. I just know that SD always makes top quality stuff.
