AF100 + Steadicam

Has anyone had any luck using a Steadicam rig with the AF100? I picked up a Flycam 5000 and I have never been able to properly balance the thing even after watching a hundred videos on how to properly balance a rig. Most people seem to be using a Glidecam, not a Flycam rig, but it should be the same concept regardless of which brand you use. Is the AF100 too asymmetrical to balance well with a rig? Anytime I try I just can't get the balance right and it doesn't look like Steadicam footage at all!

anyone else had any luck with this? Any tips?

We've used the AF100 on a Steadicam rig (own both) - it flies very well, and having holes in the handle means that low mode can even be done right side up with not much effort.

What brand/model rig did you use? I've heard that the Flycam brand I have is garbage, but again I don't see why the concept should be any different. Then again I just can't get the dang thing to balance at all either. I can get the drop test fine, but it always seems to twist and dip constantly.

I recently bought a Wieldy steadicam rig. It's a cheap Chinese knock-off of the Glidecam. Total cost was around $700 off ebay for the stabilizer and vest. I'm still practicing, but this was shot after I'd only messed around with it once in the house. Used a Voigtlander 17.5mm f/0.95 opened up somewhat to get some DOF. The footage kinda blows for a number of reasons, one of which is focusing is not an option, so whatever comes into focus totally depends on your feet. Anyway, the point is - yes, you can buy a stabilizer which works well with the AF100.
