I now have the 2nd generation of my NanoFlash bracket with or without shoulder mount in stock.

This version allows 3 different positions for the NanoFlash as seen in the photos below.

There also is an added optional shoe on the bracket for a wireless receiver. I also now have the IDX V-mount battery plates with power for the AF100 and NanoFlash as well as an open D-tap for on camera light etc.

This system is independent and compatible with any rail system. I am currently working on a couple 15mm rail systems, one specifically for the AF100 and another universal one. I also have an adjustable wooden handle with start stop record button, coming in the next couple weeks.

If you are interested any of these products they can be ordered at my WEBstore:

I am now a sponsor at this great forum. I personally shoot with the AF100 and I really love this camera. This is an exciting time in video production.

Here is what Barry Green had to say about my system in this forum:

"Okay, this is long overdue, but I have to say it --

I love Olof's Nanoflash bracket. It is totally a must-have.

Olof sent me one for review... well, forever ago. And like so many things, it slipped through the cracks, then I got sick, and ... blah, blah blah...

Okay, so anyway -- the Nano is great and tiny and all, but how do you mount it? I had the top-handle shoe mount thing that Filippo Chiesa was using, but ... yuck. I mean, yeah, it sits up there, but then it's in the way of the handle and the little mount gets loose and whatnot. When I saw what Olof was doing I thought... eh, I dunno, looks too big and bulky, looks like overkill, makes the camera look like it's too long, etc... but he took a leap of faith and sent it to me figuring, I guess, that once I actually saw it, I'd change my mind.

Yes, I did indeed. Yes indeed.

This bracket is great. First, the idea of it fitting in like a shim is excellent -- it takes up practically no space, and it's solid and rigid and it doesn't compromise the handling of the camera at all. Second, with the Nano mounted on the side like that, it's pretty much out of the way, fits nicely in the camera bag, and a little one-foot SDI cable is all you need. And now instead of being "one more thing to juggle", the Nano is just always there, ready to go. It's really well thought out.

Next nice surprise -- after I got my follow focus in, the camera+nano is now perfectly balanced left to right. The follow focus cancels out the weight of the Nano and now it doesn't tip either way when carrying it, which is verra nice.

But the main reason I'm writing this now, is because on Wednesday I got called to do a job in Phoenix for FlightLine, and we needed the AF100. And as I was traveling light, I had to strip it down to fit in a carry-on bag, and I picked up the AF100 and thought ... aw, man, now I gotta strip off the handle and unscrew and pull off the Nano bracket... but NO! Because Olof thought of that. The actual Nano bracket attaches to the camera in two parts, and all you have to do is loosen some thumbscrews and take off the Nano portion, leaving the shim nicely intact -- and it takes up practically zero additional space that way. And as we were figuring out how to mount the AF100 onto the tracker truck, Jay looked at the existing holes of Olof's bracket and thought ... hmmm.... maybe we could use these -- and I bet they would have worked just fine. We didn't end up using them, we used a Noga arm contraption from beneath, but I have no doubt Olof's bracket would have worked to hold the camera even from there.

In summary -- if you've got a Nano and an AF100, get Olof's bracket. It's a well thought out, well engineered, well constructed, heavy duty, and it's made by someone who understands what professionals need and the way things should work. And even though he sent it to me to review, I'm not sending it back -- I'm buying it (at full price, of course) - it's that good."

Thanks Barry.

Is the shoulder bracket available without the Nano portion?
Im interested in using this just as a shoulder rig of sorts...
What would be the price of that part alone?

Yes the kit can be purchased just as a shoulder brace without the NanoFlash arm. It is $225.00. And the NF arm and other upcoming parts can purchased later.

The shoulder brace can also be purchased with an IDX plate to power the AF100 and other accessories. I will also soon have an GoldMount AB plate available to power the AF100 and lights etc.

The basic NF-kit is $150.00, the shoulder bracket can be added any time for $125.00.

I have to say Olof, that your prices are VERY good. Not really sure you can even make a buck on that. Different then some other companies (I won't name names).

How does the shoulder mount work for viewing the LCD? Is it a reasonable angle to view from?

Olof's product is superb. I have the full bracket/shoulder mount and it fits well, though I use the nano bracket to mount two Letrosonic UHF systems. The shoulder mount is offset just enough to put the right eye in the viewfinder.

My prices are reasonable because I control all the production, it is all done either in my own metal shop ( I just got a new CNC machine) or in a CNC shop just down the road, and the anodizing is done in a shop a few miles away. I also have an almost non existent advertising budget, just word of mouth and a couple forums. And all sales are direct we don't whole sale, except to NanoFlash.net (I have a close working relationship with Dan Keaton at Convergent) and one distributor in NZ. So my pricing structure is set for direct sales.

I am a shooter myself since the 70's and I have always made improvements for my own gear, it is only in the last couple years that I have started selling these solutions, because other shooters have asked me to modify their rigs. I am very pleased with the positive response I have been getting. I do a fair amount of custom rigs these days as well, it is great to talk to others in this field and come up with new solutions. I like making rugged, but light gear for a price that is reasonable, because that is what I would buy.

The shoulder brace pivots right and left, so it will line up with either the EVF or the LCD, and it accommodates shooters with different physiques.

Your heart and mind are in the right place Olof!

If I ever have a free weekend for my wife and I to go visit my parent's in Bartlett, I'll stop by and check out your setup.

I like this!

Hey Olof . . . what do you think about adding a cold shoe mount on the plate where it secures to the AF-100?

That can easily be done, of course then you loose the use of the handle.

I will soon have an adjustable handle, it will pivot, move back and forth and have a trigger in it, there may be a spot on that for more shoe mounts.

I always like new input. Thanks.

I initially ordered the Shoulder Brace without Nano bracket, but within a few days of receiving it, ordered the bracket too. Even if I never use a Nano the bracket is great for attaching a wireless receiver.

Here's what I wrote previously.

What I forgot to add is the brace is not only great for shoulder height, but just about any handheld use. I'm constantly bracing it against my hip, leg, or whatever, to stabilize shots & supress CMOS wobble.

Lastly, Westside AV provides great customer service & emails are returned promptly.

Best,
Bern

Finally! this solution would make me want to buy the AF101 :-) Very well done Olof! I wish there was something similar for my HVX ...

Hey Olof,

The model with integrated AB battery plate attached...Is this equivalent to or the same as the QR-VBG adapter that Anton Bauer is releasing?

Yes that is the setup, I have a bunch on order direct from AB. They were originally scheduled for delivery in January. Sharyn just talked with them yesterday, they are due out soon. I wish I had more exact info.
