AF100 Scene Files - Help!

So I've only had the AF100 for a week or so, and I have been trying to load scene files into the camera from an SD card. These are the files that came with "The AF100 Book". I formatted an SD card in the camera, then copied the scene files over following the instructions that accompanied them on the cd. For some reason when i try to read the card in the camera it gives me the grayed out "Title 1, Title 2, etc". The files don't show up...

What am I doing wrong? I have read and re-read the camera manuals, the AF100 book, etc.

I am at a loss, and am feeling somewhat retarded. Thanks

I had the same problem. Trying to load Barry's settings from his book's CD. When I have time, I'm going to look at Mac issues (ghost file or whatever it's called). I managed to load the software upgrade (1.15) from a file downloaded on a PC, but have still been stuck with getting lens upgrade and Barry's files in. Probably something simple referred to in a previous thread. I'll let you know if/when I solve, and please do same, John

I took a look at the Mac issue thread...then I tried to write the files to an SD card with a PC. I had the same issue importing the files into the camera that I mentioned in the previous post...I really wish I could get a handle on what I'm doing wrong...!

Not sure why you guys are having troubles... I just verified again that the procedure in the readme.txt file on the CD, works perfectly from both Windows and Mac.

Format the SD card in camera.

Plug it into the computer.

Put the CD in the computer.

Open the CD and go to the Scene Files directory.

Drag the "PRIVATE" folder from the CD onto the SD card. It'll ask you if you want to replace the existing PRIVATE directory -- say yes.

Then, put the SD card in the camera, go to the scene file menu, choose "Card Read", and -- they should be there.

Note, this was done on an AF100 using version 1.15 firmware. I don't know if the prior issue in the prior firmware would cause issues with the AppleDouble thing when loading scene files, but it definitely works in version 1.15.

got it! I had to download the firmware update. Once I did that, I was good to go. Thanks so much for the help. I've had a good look at all of the setting you provided Barry, good stuff. Thanks.

Still won't go in. Followed directions to letter I believe. Camera has 1.15 installed via PC. Working now on my Mac. Formatted SD card in camera. Dragged CD's PRIVATE folder into SD card's, replaced, back in camera files are still greyed out / don't exist. When I attempted manual transfer, after reformatting card in camera, I notice PRIVATE folder does not have the PRIVATE/MEIGROUP/PAVCN etc. structure, but a PRIVATE/AVCHD/AVCHDTN etc. structure. Maybe that's the issue? Thanks.

You dragged the "private" folder to the root of the SD card, right? It's not within the SD card's private folder, is it?

When formatting a card, the MEIGROUP structure is not created immediately, it's only created if you save scene files or user files from your camera. Try saving scene files using the "card write" function in your camera, that'll create the folder structure, then drag the individual .TXT files from the CD into the P2SD directory on the SDHC card.

Lastly, if it's still not working, save some scene files from your camera, open one in a text editor, and compare the scene file header to the ones on the CD to see if they look exactly the same. If they're not exactly the same, post the differences here and let's see if we can't get to the bottom of this.

I can verify that on my official serial-numbered Panasonic USA version AF100, I followed the instructions about dragging the PRIVATE folder from the CD to the root of the SD card, and was able to load in the scene files just fine, so ... it should work...
