AF100 now includes 14-140 lens

I make no apologies and amortised my camera by mid-Feb.

The point is, we here on this forum are all loyal and supportive of Panasonic and I would hope and expect to find the same loyalty from Panasonic toward the early adopters who put them on the map.

Apparently not.

Regards,
Scott

I doubt your decision to buy a Panasonic AF100 was based entirely on "loyalty" to Panasonic.

The product struck the right chord with you (as it did with me) and you purchased based on economics as well as practical considerations. (as I also did)

If you expected a bonus down the line or some sort of gratitude for your decision...well thats something else.

Assumeably you now dont feel so much loyalty and wont purchase Panasonic again despite the fact its been a great earner for you.

Jan... can you give this man a lens please or he will buy a Sony.

Change a few details and thats what they are saying on the APPLE FCP Forums with much more cause and reason to do so.

;-)

if it were a year later i can understand this freebie, but it does strike a negative cord for me that they aren't offering early adopters at least some sort of deal, maybe not the same deal but SOMETHING....

Do you offer your clients some sort of "freebie" down the track a year later? If so..send them a cheque or do something free for them to show how special they were for actually working with you.

Being an "early adopter" has advantages and disadvantages. Get over it and get back to work.

I wonder: is this bundle coming from Panasonic or B&H??? Jan?

It's coming from Panasonic - in fact, it was Philip at Texas Media Systems who originally told me about it - I only linked ot the B&H page originally because I didn't realize it was already up on their site.
I actually just changed the link in the first post to the TMS page.

Figure we should all support forum sponsors when we can.... right?
:)

As a recent purchaser of the AF100, I'm feeling a little left out!
I dig the camera and accepted its faults, but this is very cheap
on panasonics part. Thats how "I" feel after spending "my" money,
no matter if it paid for itself 10 seconds after I turned it on!

What faults? Why did you buy a camera with faults?

Why didnt you wait for a garage sale before you bought a camera "with faults"! Stoopid you.

FWIW : I recently bought a car for my wife. $50,000. We got a bunch of flowers and a few bottles of wine. We wanted the car . Who cares!

Your bad!

mine already paid for itself. so thats fine.

i guess recent buyers for the past 2 weeks should get this promo

Ahhh Drat!

I say let’s get proactive. Since few of us really want the 14-140 let’s insist that Panasonic slip all us early buyers the new Canon EF 400 2.8 and the Birger mount when both of these are released (if we’re going to reach, let’s really give it a stretch....and yes I did buy the 14-140 and it has it’s uses).

Now that I reread my post I think I should also get a special bonus gift because of my early 14-140 purchase. I could use a Porsche. :2vrolijk_08:

No kidding, two weeks after receiving my AF102 I miss on the deal, I guess some people were born with their backside facing the sun or moon. Bugger ..

While it seems as though some of you think that it was me that made this happen, please know it wasn't me, I am a product manager, not the marketing manager, I do work with the marketing team, and the team rules as a majority vote. I knew it would upset early adopters who would then find it to be their right to cast less then pleasant feelings my way. Please know that this is a limited time offer. when the lenses are gone, they are gone, so if you have not bought a camera and you want to equip it with this lens, work fast to make it happen. This is a very good deal, it is not happening around the world, only here in the US. Thanks Shooter for being a voice of reason in this, I really didn't sleep very well last night because of all of this. I am way too thin-skinned for marketing.

Best,

Jan

Dont worry jan. early adopters have the privilege of earning the investment first. I know i have . I dont know for those who havent and why.. :\

Yeah..... I got mine on 6/6. Yeah.... PAID for a 14-140. Yeah, feeling a bit miffed right now. Sure, I've already used it on a job or two, and it's been "paid" for, but I can still feel a little.... abused.

BUT DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT APPLE & FCP RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you Jan. ;)

I won't rush to buy it, IMHO after the launch of the FS100 the actual price of this camera is $3000-$3400.

I was expecting panasonic to do this or something similar and I seriously think this will be the deal from now on.

the inclusion of this lens in the packet is not really exiting. Probably giving you (before anybody else) the 25mm F1.4 would be more great and make people buy it.

I think Panasonic after analyze people response we will do further reductions.

+1 I was one of the very first HMC150 buyers. Guess I should have complained about the price going down later on?
Being first always comes at a price. But it sure is fun to have the latest greatest camera before everyone else! Now *I* need to get back to work...

I think Panasonic found a way of getting rid of their inventory of 14-140 lenses which have been panned by most users as overpriced and under-engineered (nice way of describing a crappy lens). I don't consider that to be a great buying incentive.

As for Shooter being a voice of reason, he sounds more like an angry old curmudgeon who likes picking a fight, no matter what the subject (lenses, audio, his cinematic vision and venerable Nikons and now his wife's car).
