AF100 making strange noise while recording or in standby

I'm wondering if everything is ok- I'm about to take this AF100 for a shoot abroad and as I've been playing with it I've noticed a strange noise that it makes all the time. THe closest I can come to explaining it is it's like the way the heaters in my apartment sound, but much much quieter. It's not a steady noise, it goes on all the time but not like a well running engine, more like an engine that is having problems. It's very very quiet so I don't think it is the kind of thing that will show up in the footage, but it worries me because it just doesn't sound "right". I have a lumix lens with an olympus adaptor on the camera and nothing else at the moment.

thanks.

hmm, could it be a grounding issue? Or maybe a lighting issue. Lights can cause a hum, same with a bad ground.

Dregenthal, I don't know because this is the only lens I have right now. If it is the lens that might be the best possible thing because it's not an internal problem. It's not lights because the noise is coming from inside the camera. If it was a steady noise I'd think it's just the camera motor, but like I said it's more of a sputtering noise. What should one hear when one holds the af100 to one's ear?? Thanks very much!

If I take the lens off and power up the camera, does it actually turn on? I tried to do that and did not hear the noise, however I'm also not sure the camera functions actually went on. thanks

Darn- it IS loud enough to be picked up on the internal mic. So it seems like an issue I will def have to resolve before leaving the country Tues. Has anyone had any problems with the olympus adaptor?

ahhh...seems like when i turned the OIS on the lens itself off the noise stopped. not a great discovery since I will be shooting a lot of hand held and will need the OIS. Any thoughts? Thanks!

And I'm using the Olympus 4/3 adapter. Anyway, decided to take the lens and adapter back and look into other options. I'm going to be shooting in very rugged conditions with lots of intense sun/shade so I may need to change exposure during shots and will need something that does that more quietly too. Changing lenses between shots is going to be tricky so I def want a zoom lens. I originally chose the 14-50 because even though it's not constant aperture, it was as close as I could find to that (2.8-3.5) in an affordable ($800) range lens.
