AF100 - LPCM - FCP issues STILL after all updates

Hey gang,

Hopefully someone has some magical fix for this, though I suspect all hope is lost.
Recently shot some interviews for a doc using the AF100 for the first time and using 1080/30P. Audio was LPCM which we had found was the highest quality. The camera was running 1.14 software (you probably know where this going) and audio levels seemed fine and dandy. Low and behold, no audio afterwards. Updated FCP to 7.0.3 and still nothing. Tried capturing on a half a dozen macs, nothing.

As I understand posthumously, one of the fatal flaws of the camera is that you will get audio levels and monitoring with headphones even when the VFR is on, though not actually recording audio. But here's the thing, we checked the cameras after all this trouble and found that the VFR was off, on both cameras (both of which have the same issue).

So, I'm hoping maybe there's some last ditch trick I'm missing, despite having scoured the internet and these forums. Please, someone save me and my doomed(?) interviews.

Only thing I can suggest is see if it will open with audio in another NLE system .eg Premiere.

Good luck. Feel for ya mate.

Assume no playback reviews were done in the field?

Try opening a clip in the latest VLC, or Movist. They both play back LCPM.

If that works you have a FCP issue, & could transcode with ClipWrap instead.

Best,
Bern

"experience is something you get...just after you need it"

This might be a dumb question, but have you tried playing the clips back on the camera, from SD cards?

I know I am a total nub, and this is a stupid question, but if you were recording to camera, did you have VFR off? Just askin, as I haven't had any issues in FCP with Log & Transfer.

if you play the clips back on the camera, can you hear the audio? .. that's the first link in the chain.
